With E3 done and dusted, we have a much better idea of what 2021’s second half will look like (full release schedule here). A surprise Metroid game, Forza Horizon 5 and Guardians of the Galaxy were among the new titles announced, which join the likes of Halo: Infinite, Horizon Forbidden West and Deathloop in rounding out the year in gaming.

But fixating on what’s to come risks losing focus on the great games that have already launched on PlayStation (4 and 5), Xbox (One and X|S), Switch and PC. And there are quite a few! Though 2020 was heavier on blockbusters — Final Fantasy 7 Remake and The Last of Us Part 2 had both already launched this time last year — this year isn’t without big winners.
