Big Table receives $10K donation
San Diego’s Big Table, a local organization that helps restaurant and hospitality workers in need, was recently awarded a $10,000 donation from San Diego’s Mainline Insurance Services. Big Table helps provide care for all aspects of life and usually includes rental and utility assistance, as well as food security through gift cards for local grocery stores. The $10,000 donation will allow Big Table to provide food and housing for up to 120 people. The donation came about after Ramses Hernandez, a senior broker with Mainline Insurance, won a $5,000 donation for Big Table from Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance through their 2021 Make More Happen Awards. A story of the local partnership was posted internally, and Mainline Insurance was given the chance to raise another $5,000 by conducting a local awareness campaign for the nonprofit. With help from the community, the goal was met, doubling the donation to $10,000 for Big Table.

Senior Resource Group holds ‘Tour de Zest’
Senior Resource Group, with senior living communities across the United States, recently held Tour de Zest, a 10-day challenge inspired by the international Tour de France cycling event. Residents at the Solana Beach-based company’s 32 senior communities nationwide competed to generate the highest biking mileage totals. The festivities were the first major in-person company-wide initiative at SRG communities since the start of COVID-19 restrictions. Tour de Zest had something for everyone, regardless of fitness levels, from parties to guest fitness instructors to challenges between resident teams. Residents attended high-energy cycle-style classes and tracked their miles on leaderboards each day. They also enjoyed virtual rides through the Arizona desert, Pacific Northwest and the California coastline. Cycling provides health benefits, including increased cardiovascular fitness, improved joint mobility, decreased stress levels and the prevention and management of diseases such as diabetes. Senior Resource Group develops, owns and operates independent living, assisted living and Alzheimer’s/dementia care communities throughout the United States.
