Okaloosa County announces Emergency Rental Assistance Program

SHALIMAR, Fla. – The U.S. Treasury has awarded Okaloosa County $6.36 million in emergency rental and utility assistance for low-income households experiencing COVID-19 financial hardships. Beginning April 6, 2021, to ensure a successful economic recovery in our area, grant assistance is becoming available for rent, rent arrears, late fees, utilities and utility arrears.

ECSO asks for public’s help in finding missing 14-year-old

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding 14-year-old Alison Saucier.

Alison was last seen on Monday, April 5, at 10 p.m. on the 2000-block of Saddlebrook Drive. She is 5’6”, has blue eyes and blonde hair.

Mississippi governor provides update on state’s COVID-19 vaccine response

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Governor Tate Reeves announced 1.32 million vaccines have been distributed in Mississippi. As of Monday, 815,673 people have received at least one vaccine dose, and 541,241 more are fully vaccinated.

While hospitalizations rates are declining, leaders said the key to that is vaccines being distributed daily. ICU bed space is also opening up at hospitals, but there are still a limited number of beds available due to COVID-19 patients.
