LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Spring and summer traveling is on the rise with improving COVID conditions in some states, but some travelers need to pay close attention to guidelines and possible scammers looking for your money.
The regional director of the Better Business Bureau, Jason Meza says if you’r planning a vacation, to take the time and be aware of the travel and CDC guidelines and restrictions that vary by state and country.
“The CDC has a planner up to date on all information and recommend to not putting yourself in a situation that can compromise getting you infected.”
When it comes to booking flights and hotels:
”Plan to be flexible if you want to save money, but having a back up plan and being flexible will save you money later.”
When you pay, always use a credit card.
”There is always more protection there, if you want to cancel or dispute a charge.”
Meza says there are many scammers looking to take your money, so be aware.
“A confirmation, they hijacked your booking and cancelled and took your money as a third party, so watch out for those and the typical copy pictures of hotels and airlines at great prices and they never existed and they are hijacking your information.”
Meza also says to understand what travel insurance covers, it may not cover every situation, but read the fine print to see if it something that would benefit you.
